Phonics Teaching

Phonics

At SSCA our Phonics teaching scheme is Read, Write Inc. This systematic phonics scheme supports our phonic knowledge, reading and writing teaching in Foundation, Year1 and into Y2 . The teaching groups range from teaching initial sounds, learning to blend words and reading with fluency and expression. Children are assessed every half term and streamed according to their phonics knowledge. There is also the ability to re-assess and move children within these half termly blocks if necessary.
