Welcome

Welcome to Class 3's page!

Our class teacher's are Mrs Lumby on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Gilbert on a Thursday and Friday. We are lucky to have Miss Bebbington working with us everyday.

PE lessons: It is important that pupils have their PE kit in school at all times, as they will not be able to participate in lessons without it. It is advisable to have to have a pair of black or navy jogging bottoms or leggings in their PE kit, especially for the colder months. A pair of old trainers is also essential because the pupils will take part in a range of outdoor activities, some of which will take place on the school field. Long hair will need to be tied back and earrings removed for your child’s safety during PE lessons. Please ensure all kit is fully labelled.

During this half term, Class 3’s PE lessons will take place on Monday and Thursday.

Homework: Homework will be set through a homework menu every half term. The menu includes English, Maths and topic based learning. The menu includes activities children can do independently and activities that can be completed as a family. Children are expected to do one English, one Maths and one other activity each week. It is expected a child in year 3 will spend a suggestion of 15-20 minutes a night on homework. If your child is unable to complete their homework at home they have the opportunity to attend Homework Club at lunchtime in school.

Reading: Children should read every evening and to an adult at least once a week. Take time to talk about books at home as reading is so very important. Each child has a reading record, where they should keep a record of what they are reading. Please comment on your child’s progress with reading in their reading record when you have heard them read.

Spellings: In the front of your child’s reading record and in their homework books there is a list of the Year 3/4 spellings which your child is expected to read and write by the end of Year 4. We encourage children to practice these at home. Children can share with school their at home spellings if parents wish to test their child at home.

Lastly, it is vitally important that your child brings in a water bottle every day which is clearly labelled.

Our online class page will be kept as up-to-date as possible, with photographs uploaded so you can see what we are getting up to! Please feel free to also have a look at our half-term overview and weekly timetable.

If you have any questions, queries or problems throughout the year then please feel free to come and see one of us at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your support!
