Learning about the Weather

Exploring the weather and the seasons helps children to investigate the world around them. Seasons teach the children about the passage of time and change. Weather plays an important part in helping plants to grow and animals to live. Seasons can also be a great example of a repeating pattern and shows just how big a part nature plays in our lives. This term we have talked about all the different types of weather, what they're called, how they feel and what they look like. We've discussed the effects of weather such as rainbows and also how we can measure them with windmills and rain catchers.

We also took the opportunity to discuss litter and pollution, the affect this can have on our environment and the climate. The children did a fantastic job of picking up litter from the school grounds, showing pride in their environment and being an important member of the community.
