September 2022

September went by so fast, I think it's because we've been having so much fun!

Every week the children are invited to join in with our Wild tribe sessions. These sessions are fantastic at promoting self-esteem, creativity, confidence and independence. We are so lucky to be able to use the vast school grounds to plan sessions that build on the needs and development of the children. It offers the children a safe and secure space to explore and play and enables supported risk-taking and child-centered learning.

The new Development Matters document states that children should "Be increasingly independent in meeting their own care needs, e.g., brushing teeth, using the toilet, washing and drying their hands thoroughly." and "Make healthy choices about food, drink, activity and toothbrushing." We help to support the children in this by having Toothbrush Club every day after lunch. This gives children an opportunity to talk about the importance of oral hygiene and helps them practice those teeth brushing skills.

Once a month, Mother Alison visits the children to tell them stories from the bible using her story box. The children are then invited to take part in a fun activity, which they are always keen to do.

As part of St Stephens Community Academy we are able to use some of their wonderful facilities and that includes the hall and P.E equipment. This is a favourite activity for a lot of the children and they are often very excited to take part. Our sessions are planned using the Healthy Movers Programme which aims to develop children's physical literacy in the early years, support their social and emotional development and create healthy, active learners.
