Universal Free Breakfast Club
 
We have some amazing news - St Stephens Community Academy have been selected to run the Universal Free Breakfast Club supported by the government. This means, that from September 2026, we can offer a 30 minute free breakfast club to all school age pupils This will run from 8.15-8.45. The early part of the current provision (7.45-8.15) will still be available as a paid booking option and we have reviewed our charges in line with this new offer for September 2026

School Age Pupils:
Breakfast Club :
From 7.45 - £2.00
From 8.00 - £1.50
From 8.15 - FREE
8.15-8.45 remains FREE. All options include breakfast. Children to bring own water bottles.
 
Nursery Pupils:
Breakfast club - all options include food except the 8.45am.
From 7.45 - 9am £3.50
From 8.00 - 9am £3.00
From 8.15 - 9am £2.50
From 8.45 - 9am £1.00 (No Breakfast as drop off to Nursery)


We ask that booking for all breakfast provision (paid and free) is done in advance but will still accommodate last minute bookings or changes as we know things crop up in our busy work/home lives!
As always, all bookings will be via My Child At School (MCAS) in advance unless in the case of emergency.


We are incredibly proud of the clubs that we are able to offer the children at St Stephens Community Academy. We try our very best to select a range of different activities that will engage different age groups and interests. We are so grateful to the staff who volunteer to run these clubs , without their dedication these clubs would not happen. We do not charge for our school led clubs . Our Friday Plymouth Argyle Football club is paid directly via their online booking system.
Don't forget we also offer an early morning breakfast club from 7.45 a.m. as part of our 'wrap around' care offer and after school provision until 5.30.p.m.An additional 15 mins can be added if pre-booked at the end of the day.
The 'wrap around' care sessions can be booked and paid for via our My Child At School on line booking system.

 After school:
  • 3.15pm-4.15pm : £4.00 per child. 
  • 3.15pm-5.30pm : £7.50 per child.
  • 4.15pm-5.30pm : £4.00 per child.

Help with Childcare Costs

St Stephen’s Community Academy encourages all families to check their eligibility and ensure they are receiving the childcare support available to them.

You may be able to get financial support with childcare through Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit Childcare. The government’s Best Start for Life website provides clear guidance on the support available and how to apply. [beststarti...ife.gov.uk].

Tax-Free Childcare

Tax-Free Childcare can help eligible working families with the cost of childcare.

  • For every £8 you pay into your childcare account, the government adds £2.
  • Families can receive up to £2,000 per child per year (or up to £4,000 per year for a child with a disability).
  • It can be used to pay for approved childcare, including nurseries, childminders, breakfast clubs, after-school clubs and holiday clubs.
  • Children are usually eligible until the age of 11 (or 16 if disabled).

Universal Credit Childcare

Working families who receive Universal Credit may be able to claim back up to 85% of eligible childcare costs.

  • Support is available for registered childcare, including breakfast clubs, after-school clubs and holiday clubs.
  • The maximum support available is currently £1,071.09 per month for one child or £1,836.16 per month for two or more children.
  • In most cases, parents must be working and pay childcare costs before reporting them through their Universal Credit account. [gov.uk]
