About Us /Ofsted Report

St Stephens Community Academy, on the north side of Launceston, moved to its present site in 1977.Since then there have been many changes and adaptations to our seventies building to adapt it to provide 21st century education.

We have a modern and well appointed computer suite that can accommodate a class at a time. Every class has an interactive whiteboard which is used regularly to inspire our pupils. Our hall has an interactive media center installed. We have banks of laptops and iPad's for the children to use to support their learning and computing skills.

The Area Resource Base (ARB) is very well equipped with a wide range of resources including a fabulous Sensory Room. The ARB has a very close relationship with the local community who organise many fundraising events to support it. The ARB has the capacity to take 12 pupils.

St Stephens Pre School occupies a building on our site. We work very closely together to ensure that there is smooth transition for pupils to the school.

We have a close relationship with our community including the Church of St Stephen the Martyr where every year we hold our Carol Concert. We use many other features of the local area including Launceston Castle and the Priory ruins as part of our learning experiences for children.

The school has been awarded  the Gold Schools Sports Mark for the past three years (July 2023, 2024 and 2025) in recognition of the amount of high quality physical education that is provided to pupils. In July 2023 the school achieved the UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting Award for Children- the highest accolade from UNICEF UK.Please see our section on the website for more information about UNICEF. We have received Gold Picture News awards for the past three years linked to our humanitarian and Eco work of which we are very proud.
