05.05.23 The Coronation

Gosh- what a week of celebrations for the coronation of King Charles.
With King Charles III being crowned on Saturday, we have been learning all about what a coronation is, what will happen and how people celebrate.

During the week, we have learnt that the king and queen will live at Buckingham Palace, they will be crowned at Westminster Abby and there will be a big parade after. We looked at pictures of the very special crown so that we could decorate our own.
We made fantastic coronation ties, made and hung up some bunting around the class, created King Charles 'sun-catchers', dressed up as kings and queens and even had a cream tea!
Our class book has been 'The King's Hats'- all about King Charles choosing which hat to wear because the crown is so heavy!

On Friday, we came to school in red, white and blue colours. We had so much fun at the obstacle course. There was a 'picnic' lunch and at the end of the day, some of us joined the school to sing together on the playground.

Wow! what a very busy royal week!
