Which material is best for a Waterproof Coat?

We chose our little characters to see if they would get wet when we covered them and put water on top of the different materials. We learnt to be careful and notice if the water stayed on top or soaked through to the cup making the character wet.

WE tried paper towels, water, cotton wool, plastic, polythene, amongst others. We found the water soaked through the paper towels, paper and cotton wool. The hard plastic was the best at stopping the water but we thought if may not be very comfortable to wear! We thought the polythene might be best because it was waterproof and would be more comfortable to wear.
