Fundamental Skills - Throwing and Catching

This half term Arena are helping us to develop our throwing and catching skills in our PE lessons.

This week we began by playing different team games, like Cat and Mouse, to work on our movement, speed and tactics.  We then focused on throwing a tennis ball into the air and catching it firstly with 2 hands and then with 1. To make it more challenging we then threw the ball into the air, allowed it to bounce once and then tried to catch it with one hand and then our opposite hand.  This was great for developing our hand-eye co-ordination!  To end the session we played small team games in which we had to throw the ball at the opposite team and they had to try and catch it after one bounce.  If they didn't catch it, we scored a point.

We had great fun and we are looking forward to applying these skills to a game of tennis.
