Science Week - WB 11th March 2024

We mixed bicarbonate of soda, vinegar and food colouring together. We timed it using a sand timer to see how long it fizzed for.
  • 'Don't eat it!' Esme
  • ' I think it's going to spill.' Tyler
  • 'They're mixing. It's overflowed.' Arlo
  • 'It spilt all the way out!' Samson
  • 'It's fizzling.' Esme
  • 'It smells not good!' Isaac
  • 'The yellow and red are mixing - it's orange!' Esme
  • It goes up, it explodes when you pour the vinegar inside!' Chester
We put skittles around the edge of a plate, and then filled the plate with water. We timed to see how long it took for all of the colours to reach the middle.

  • 'I can see a rainbow.' Joseph
  • 'It'll go brown if you mix it.' Esme
  • 'It's a pattern.' Tyler
  • 'It looks like coca cola now!' Elsie
We made tissue worms by decorating tissue with felt pens, rolling up the tissue and squashing it then we added water and we watched it change colour and grow.

"Look mine has gone blue." Seth
"Mine has grown." Chester
"It looks like it's wiggled." Tyler
"All the colours have come through and mixed up." Sophie
We made bubble worms. We cut the end of a plastic bottle and put a sock over it, we then made a soapy mixture and blew bubble worms.

"Lots of bubbles are coming out."
"Look how long it is!"
"My bubbles went into the air and over there."
"My bubbles are on the water."
