Ridgegrove bus shelter art project

This term, Year 5 have had the privilege of working on a community art project initiated by Launceston Town Council. We were invited to generate some beautiful artwork to regenerate a tired bus shelter at the top of Ridgegrove, looking out across the stunning valley towards the castle. We brainstormed what Cornwall, Launceston and St Stephens meant to us and images that would best represent it. The children worked collaboratively on this before choosing what they wished to represent and in which medium. Some chose to paint, some used chalks or oil pastels and others a combination of both. The class produced some superb artwork, of which we were delighted to send a selection forward to the council. These have been transformed into large panels as seen in the photos. It has been an immensely successful challenge that we are all very proud of and have been honoured to share with the town Mayor, Cornwall housing, Launceston Town Council and the whole community.
