NSPCC Number Day - Year 2

In Year 2, we spent the morning taking part in a range of maths activities.  We began by exploring how maths is used in everyday life and who everyone had dressed up as.  We then explored how numbers have been used and developed throughout history, where we found out about Roman, Mayan and Babylonian number systems - having a go at representing different numbers in these systems.  We discovered an inspirational female mathematician, Marjorie Lee Browne, and took part in financial literacy activities where we learnt more about money and the difference between buying things we want and need.  We finally finished off our busy morning learning how to count to 10 in Spanish!
