Education for Sustainability Centre

Year 5 pupils visited the AnDaras Trust Sustainability Centre to continue exploring the theme of Survival. Working collaboratively, they faced the challenge of collecting and depositing water—a task that required resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving. The children then took their learning further by creating water filters using natural materials and resources found around the site. This hands-on activity helped them understand how to make water safe to drink, linking science and sustainability in a meaningful way. Our school values are so evident throughout the day: Creativity – Designing and building effective water filters from natural resources. Relationships – Supporting each other as teams and individuals to achieve a shared goal. Leadership – Taking initiative and guiding peers through tricky challenges. Advocacy – Understanding the importance of clean water and sustainable practices for communities worldwide. What a fantastic example of learning beyond the classroom and applying knowledge to real-world contexts.
