Positive Playgrounds

30th January 2024

Positive Playgrounds St Stephens Community Academy
Another action packed and physically active day here at St Stephens .
We currently have Ashlea from Sustrans running her scooting skills sessions with our Y1-Y3 pupils and we are also delighted to welcome Andy Mitchell from Arena to lead the Positive Playgrounds workshops with Y1-Y6 pupils today.
Andy led a whole school assembly and discussed why it is so important for playtimes to be positive and how learning games together is fun and enables friendships to flourish. The children are outside now learning the games so they all know the rules, how to play them together and what skills will be needed. There is a big emphasis on FUN and enjoying being physically active together. We recognise the importance of this not only for our physical health but our well being and mental health too. We look forward to seeing these new games being played during the lunch and break times and seeing the problem solving, team work and cooperation they nurture.
