World Earth Day - 22nd April 2020

22nd April 2020

April 22nd 2020

Today is 'World Earth Day'. The theme for Earth Day 2020 is climate action. The enormous challenge, but also the vast opportunities, of action on climate change have distinguished the issue as the most pressing topic for the 50th anniversary. Climate change represents the biggest challenge to the future of humanity and the life-support systems that make our world habitable.

Here are a few suggestions for activities that you could do to celebrate and support World Eartn Day:

1. Design and make a contraption that would collect and measure rainwater so that it could be re-used, perhaps to water plants in your garden.

2. Create a poster providing tips for how people could save energy around their homes.

3. Build a bug hotel.

4. Design and make a bird feeder.

5. Go out on a nature scavenger hunt.

6. Create a nature collage or sculpture.

Don't forget to take photos and upload any of the things you do to J2E so we can see the amazing things you have been getting up to and share them on our website!
