Youth Council Meeting

8th February 2024

We are incredibly proud of our Y6 representatives who attended the most recent Launceston Youth Council meeting . Representatives were there from all the local schools and each group was asked to present a project to the council that they would like to undertake at their school. Dexter, Olly and Skye spoke clearly about their proposal- to plant more flowers and trees to attract more wildlife and create special spaces e.g. hedgehog homes, bug hotels and bird boxes, as well as making our chicken coop more comfortable for our "six delightful chickens". They have been inspired to look after our school environment after studying the book 'The promise' by Nicola Davies in class- their aim being to make our community a happier place for everyone. We are absolutely delighted to inform you all that they have secured £400 from Launceston Town Council for this project. A huge thank you to Cllr Margaret Young for giving the children of Launceston the opportunity to lead a school based project and have the funding to do so- great for financial skills! Also thank you to Launceston Town Council for providing lunch and to Miss Bye for accompanying the group today. The next meeting is on 21st March when the children will present an update report to the council.. Amazing British Values on display and our school values of Advocacy and Leadership in action. We are incredibly proud of our Y6 representatives who attended the most recent Launceston Youth Council meeting .
