Time 2 Move -The last couple of day.

12th April 2024

Time 2 Move Days 3 and 4.
Another brilliant couple of days at St Stephens Community Academy .
Yesterday the children started off the day with a wake and shake which both children and coaches got involved in! They then tried out some small sided games of dodgeball before lunch-pasta bake, fresh salad and for dessert delicious cupcakes.
The afternoon saw us welcome Jenny who is the author of the Sammy Rambles books and creator of the sports game Dragon Ball.
Jenny showed both the coaches and children how we play this game which is also mentioned in her brilliant books! She even bought special prizes for the children including whistles, one of her books and their very own toy dragon for them to try and win! We even got to create our very own Dragon Eggs as well. Safe to say everyone had a brilliant session with Jenny and we are all looking forward to playing Dragon Ball again soon.
What an end to week we have had today at St Stephens!
We started the day with another wake and shake which seems to have been a big hit this time around. This was followed by some basketball before lunch. The children enjoyed a lovely meal of fish fingers, chips and peas accompanied by a scrumptious chocolate brownie for dessert.
After lunch some of the children challenged the Argyle coaches to a first to 3 goals football match. A tough start for the coaches as the children capitalised on two mistakes made by Jacob and took a two goal lead! Some great teamwork from both Argyle Coaches saw them bring it back to 2-2 before David scored the winner for the coaches finishing the game at 3-2 to Argyle.
After this the children took part in some batting and bowling which they thoroughly enjoyed. To finish the day we crowned our two Stars of The Week who showcased brilliant behaviour and the desire to try any challenge they faced-well done guys.
Jacob Fahy the Participation Lead Coach (Argyle Community Trust) who ran the sessions this week has said...
"Overall an amazing week at St Stephens and we can’t thank you you enough for allowing us to use your school as the base for these amazing sessions. The children loved St Stephens and its friendly and welcoming environment!
A thank you also to the kitchen staff for once again allowing us to use their facilities to serve up the food to the children each day. Finally I would like to pass on a massive thankyou to your caretaker Bob and his team for making sure the children had a clean and safe environment for them to learn and play in. They are a credit to your school and both children and staff are very grateful for the support they gave us this week.
Thanks again and we hope to be able to use St Stephens and its wonderful facilities again soon."
On behalf of all the children involved we would like to extend our enormous thanks to Jacob and his team for providing such fantastic and positive experiences this week. Bring on the next events! It's so important that our community school serves our local community -the more the merrier.
