Hello, and welcome to class 1. The class teacher is Mrs. H Morris and Class 1 are lucky to be supported by Mrs. S Mayer (LSA) every morning and afternoon. Mrs. Duckworth will be in class with the children on a Thursday afternoon and every other Friday afternoon.

Our theme for the Autumn Term is 'Community and Inheritance'. Please see our  Curriculum Overview, Knowledge Organiser and Vocabulary Word Mat on the class Information page to see what the children will be learning about in the different subjects. Our initial learning within this will take a geography focus on our local area, followed by history with the gunpowder plot and then seasonal change for our science.

Home learning menu's will be changed  in line with the learning themes and the content that the children will be covering. Home learning books are to be handed in by Wednesday which will then be marked and handed back on a Friday.

We really value reading at St. Stephens and our expectation is that all children should read at home on a daily basis. In KS1 this includes the children reading one of their school phonics books (or home books) to an adult at home, or an adult sharing a book with their child. Please write down every time your child reads in their reading record as this enables them to work towards and collect 'karate bands' for their home reads.

Please feel free to speak to me or another member of staff at the end of the school day if you have any questions or problems.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Hannah Morris
