Woodland Skills Centre - 28th June 2023

We started the day by recapping previous learning at the Woodland Skills Centre about how we can look after our planet, and what might happen if we  don’t. We thought about different animals that may be come extinct and some that are already extinct. Claire then set us a challenge: could we build a river to get water from one bucket to another? We had to work as a team, showing that we can be Confident Communicators, and we had to show resilience when things didn’t go as planned. Claire then showed us how beavers make dams and we built dams on our ‘river.’

We then thought about renewable energy sources; water, wind and solar. Kate showed us how to make kites using biodegradable plastic bags and we flew them in the wind.

In the afternoon, we all had a go with the flint to light a fire and then we toasted crumpets on the grill. They were delicious!

What a fantastic day we all had!
