DT Textiles

Class 3 have recently completed their textiles unit as part of our DT curriculum, we were tasked with designing and making a flag with a partner.

Our design brief was:

1. To make an interesting flag

2. To use a running stitch

3. To leave a seam allowance

As part of the design process, Class 3 evaluated existing flags from different countries around the world. They used these evaluations to inspire their joint designs.

Class 3 completed a focussed practical task where they practised using a running stitch with paper instead of felt.

The children then used a template to cut their felt designs out. The 'pieces' were held on with pins before the children took turns to stitch their design in place.

The children used a lot of perserverance, communication and mutual respect in order to work together to make their final product.
