Science - Materials - Boat Investigation

In science we are focusing on Materials this term.

Our focus objectives have been -
- To find out how the shapes of solid objects made from some materials can be changed
by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching.
- To identify and compare the suitability of a variety of everyday materials, including
wood, metal, plastic, glass, brick, rock, paper and cardboard for particular uses

This week we competed a STEM activity. Mrs Hooper asked us to design and make a boat that floated on water. We were also tole we were going to test it to see how much weight it held before it sank.
We could select our own materials from a wide variety of different materials. We had to work with our partner, showing lots of team work, reciprocity and resilience.
Finally we tested the boats to see if the floated and how much weight they could hold.
