Year 1 and Year 2 had a brilliant World Book Day, filled with creativity, imagination, and plenty of story magic. The children arrived in fantastic costumes, proudly dressed as their favourite book characters, and spent the morning making their own masks inspired by the stories they love. A book‑themed scavenger hunt took us exploring and searching for clues and characters hidden in unexpected places. We also shared our favourite stories with friends, talking about the books that make us laugh, think, or want to read more.
A real highlight of was welcoming author Simon James into school. He captivated us with readings of Sally and the Limpet and The Day Jake Vacuumed, bringing his characters to life and inspiring the children to think like authors and illustrators themselves. To finish our fun-filled, fantastical day, we welcomed the parents in to our classrooms so that they could share in our story reading. It was a wonderful celebration of reading, imagination, and the joy of stories.
