RE learning in Class F/1 - 27th March 2026

Year F - Why do some Christians put a cross in their Easter Garden?

Easter Story & Easter Gardens

In RE year F have been learning about the Christian story of Easter. Our learning helped us to begin to understand that Easter is a special time for Christians and recognise the cross as an important symbol.

We listened to and talked about the Easter story.

We explored feelings in the story such as sadness and joy.

We created an Easter garden using natural materials to represent key parts of the story.

We talked about what they have made and shared ideas with others.

Year 1 - Who is Jewish and how do they live?
Shabbat
Year 1 learned about Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest.
We found out that some Jewish families light two candles, drink kiddush, eat challah, and rest with no electronics.
Today we made Shabbat gardens using natural materials.
We used sticks and stones to show the two Shabbat candles and added natural items to remind us of the special challah bread.
We talked about resting on Shabbat and using no electronics.
The children made beautiful gardens to relax in during Shabbat.
