Year 2 Woodland Skills

Year 2 had a wonderful visit to the Woodland Skills Centre, developing a range of key skills through hands-on learningTheir first activity was an engaging ball game based on the planets and solar system, which required strong focus, coordination and teamwork – especially when at one point it involved three balls at a time! Next, they listened to a story, which they were delighted to discover waalso our current class text, ‘Dear Earth’, and the children were able to decorate their resulting work with natural materials such as flowers and leaves which they collected from outside, demonstrating imagination and an appreciation for the environment. After lunch, they continued to show fantastic creativity by designing their own mini creature and demonstrated supportive relationships and cooperation while building them a shelter. It was fantastic to see them taking initiative, sharing ideas, and encouraging their peers. We finished the visit with a campfire, which all the children had the chance to try and light, and ate some delicious, melted chocolate bananas!
