Coppice Theatre Company brings Eco Message Alive

16th June 2023

This week we were very excited to welcome the Cornish based Coppice Theatre Company into our school. In our school curriculum we learn about climate change and how to be a Sustainable Citizen so, to tie in with World Oceans Day, we headed to the bottom of the sea with Coppice Theatre for an exciting aquatic adventure!  We met Professor Flotsam and Dr Wright in their brand-new submarine as they looked for the strangest creatures in the deep, and learnt about looking after the oceans and they read us some of their favourite sea stories!

This fantastical show explored the importance of protecting our coast and oceans through puppetry, animation and storytelling whilst fostering a love of science and literature. This show was created thanks to kind support from Arts Council England and Feast Cornwall.

A huge thank you to our Science Lead , Mrs. Walsh, for coordinating this fabulous event for the whole school and workshop for Year 2 all about zones of the ocean that links to their eco work in class.  Thanks also to our wonderful PTFA who funded this enrichment opportunity for all . The children absolutely adored this show, it consolidated their understanding and taught them lots of new facts in a fun and entertaining way.
