World Book Day

1st March 2021

You may be aware that this Thursday (4th March) is World Book Day. We would normally celebrate by dressing up as book characters, however as we are still learning from home, things will be a little different this year.
There will be a folder on J2E full of stories and poems read by different members of staff at St Stephens for children to dip into and listen to throughout the day.
We would like the children to take part in St Stephens 'The Masked Reader'. On Thursday we would like them to record a short video of themselves reading a book/poem with their face covered, preferably with a mask of some sort. These then need to be added to J2E (Evidence Me in Year F). They are also welcome to dress up if they would like but their face needs to be covered. We will then show these in our classes on the first week back for the rest of the children to guess.
We will also be taking part in six brilliant LIVE digital author events over three days to celebrate World Book Day, and to encourage children to love reading and books. This is led by The Children's Bookshow. The children in school will be taking part live and are able to interact with the authors and illustrators, I will be sending out the YouTube links nearer the time so that you can watch from home. There are different events for different year groups.
This is the official World Book Day website There will be many live events taking place on this page as well as activities children could have a go at.
The children will receive their £1 book token when they come back to school next week. This link shows you which books are available this year The tokens can be redeemed up until Sunday 28th  March 2021.
Please send me a message via J2E if you have any questions.
