The Children's Bookshow live, interactive digital performances

3rd March 2021

To link with World Book Day on Thursday 4th March, we are taking part in 6 live, interactive digital performances run by The Children's Bookshow. The Children's Bookshow is a charity that inspires school children with a love of reading through an annual programme of in-theatre and digital performances and in-school workshops with the very best authors and illustrators from around the world.
To open the festival on Wednesday, Yr 3 and 4 took part in a digital interactive performance with one of the finest children's poets and authors, the fifth Childrenʼs Laureate, and a passionate advocate of childrenʼs reading, Michael Rosen. He had the children (and adults) completely mesmerised.
On Wednesday Year 5 and 6 had an online ‘Meet the Author’ session with poet KWAME ALEXANDER. He is an award winning American poet and author who was very funny and extremely inspirational. The children enjoyed listening to him and his stories of how he came to be the writer he is today.
Yr 5 and 6 had an amazing Thursday afternoon with a live and interactive performance from Daniel Morden, who has travelled all over the world as a professional storyteller, bringing to life the stories and tales that help to make sense of our world through the ages. He loves tales of enchantment, mystery and danger, where ordinary people triumph through their own bravery and native wit.
On Thursday Years 5 and 6 also had a live digital performance with award-winning author Catherine Johnson and interviewer Nicolette Jones. They discussed Catherine's life and work as a writer and focused on Catherine's book 'Race to the Frozen North - the tale of Matt Henson'
