St Stephens Community Academy  Wows Launceston with Spectacular Matilda Performances

St Stephens Community Academy School delivered two unforgettable evenings of musical magic as their talented pupils took to the stage at Launceston Town Hall to perform Matilda the Musical. Playing to packed audiences of friends, families, and local residents, the children dazzled with performances that could rival the West End, earning well-deserved standing ovations on both nights.

The show was a true community effort, made possible by the incredible support of parents, carers, and the school’s dedicated musical theatre dream team: Mrs Fritz, Miss Bye, and Miss Tucknott — affectionately known as the original Miss Honey. Their creative direction brought the story to life with flair, energy, and heart.

A huge thank you goes to Community Champion Shelly from the Launceston Tesco Store for her help organising refreshments and purchases, including a generous £20 donation. Shout-outs also go to More Creative Solutions for the professional-quality programmes available on both nights, and to Carlie Natalie Gerry for designing the eye-catching advertising poster. The school also expressed their gratitude to FLIC and Orchard House for their very generous donations that made this dream become a reality for the children, Thanks also to  the fantastic team at Launceston Town Council and Launceston Town Hall for their support in preparing the venue and Flowers by Donna for the beautiful bouquets donated to the musical theater team. Finally thanks to Mayor Councillor Nicola Gilbert for her kind words and presence on the final night. What amazing community support.

In the words of Matilda — sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty — and this talented cast did so with passion, confidence, and joy. What a brilliant community we are proud to be part of. Bravo, St Stephens!
